The Borger Chamber of Commerce is proud to launch Junior Leadership Borger, a dynamic new program designed to empower the next generation of community leaders. Built specifically for dual credit students who are curious, driven, and ready to explore their potential, this program isn’t just a class, it’s an experience. The kind that changes how young people see themselves, their community, and their future.
What Is Junior Leadership Borger?
Junior Leadership Borger is a multi-month leadership journey crafted to help students discover who they are, what they value, and how they can lead with purpose. Through hands-on learning, community experiences, and interactive sessions with local professionals, students will dig into leadership styles, communication, growth mindsets, teamwork, problem-solving, and service.
Each month features a unique theme: from “Who Am I as a Leader?” to exploring legacy, reflection, and career readiness. Students won’t just hear about leadership; they’ll practice it, question it, and shape it.
What Students Will Experience
In true Borger fashion, this isn’t about sitting through lectures. It’s about doing. Students will:
Tour local businesses and organizations
Meet industry leaders, city officials, and community changemakers
Participate in interactive workshops
Learn from subject-matter experts including humanities, business, government, and service leadership
Explore real-world challenges affecting their community
Build confidence, communication skills, and self-awareness
Create a personal leadership legacy project
The goal is simple: help students understand their potential and give them the tools to lead — wherever life takes them.
Why It Matters
Today’s world needs leaders who are thoughtful, creative, compassionate, and grounded. Junior Leadership Borger helps students uncover their strengths and teaches them how to use those strengths to make an impact, in school, in their future careers, and in their community. Borger is full of opportunities, but our young people are the greatest one of all. This program makes sure they know it.
Who Can Apply?
Junior Leadership Borger is open to local dual credit l students who:
Show initiative and curiosity
Have a desire to learn and lead
Want to make a difference in their community
Are ready to show up, participate, and grow
Students do not have to hold a leadership title to apply — they just need potential and the willingness to use it.
A Community Effort
Junior Leadership Borger brings together educators, businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders who believe in investing in our young people. Humanities, business, government, and civic experts, including local leaders like Fritzi Cates-Butler, serving as the program’s Humanities Expert, will guide students through real conversations and real experiences that unlock real growth.
The Impact We Hope to Create
By the end of the program, students will walk away with:
A deeper understanding of themselves
Confidence to communicate and collaborate
Awareness of local careers and industries
An expanded network of supportive mentors
A clearer sense of purpose
A vision for the kind of leader they want to become
Most importantly, they’ll know their voice matters — and they’ll know how to use it.
The Future Starts Here
Junior Leadership Borger is more than a program; it’s an investment in the future of our community. When we equip young people with the tools to lead, we strengthen Borger for generations to come.
Applications open soon. The next generation of leaders is ready and we can’t wait to meet them.
