main street board application

Our Main Street Needs You!

Borger's Main Street has faced challenges for many years. Many of the buildings are original to the townsite in the 1920's. Repairs are costly, upgrades are often needed, and many property owners do not live here - but refuse to sell or maintain their properties. All things that contribute to despair.

Main streets are important for a variety of reasons, as they play a crucial role in the social, economic, and cultural life of a community.

Reasons like:

šŸ‘‡

ā€¢Economic Vitality: Main streets are often the commercial heart of a community, supporting local businesses that provide jobs and stimulate the local economy. They help keep money circulating within the community, benefiting local residents and services.

ā€¢Community Identity: Main streets often serve as a community's cultural and historical hub, reflecting the unique character and identity of the area. They are places where local traditions are celebrated, contributing to a sense of pride and belonging.

ā€¢Social Interaction: Main streets provide a space for people to gather, socialize, and participate in community events. They foster connections among residents and create a sense of community cohesion and engagement.

ā€¢Tourism/Attraction: An attractive and lively main street can draw visitors and tourists, boosting the local economy and showcasing the community's unique offerings. This can lead to increased investment and development in the area.

ā€¢Sustainability: Supporting local businesses on main streets reduces the need for long-distance travel and shipping, promoting more sustainable consumption patterns. This can lead to a smaller carbon footprint and a healthier environment.

ā€¢Resilience: Main streets can serve as a foundation for local resilience, helping communities adapt to economic changes and challenges by fostering local entrepreneurship and innovation.
